There are so many things I could say about Obama and his election. But there is one thought that I have which I actually took from a conversation with my step-mother. I believe that Obama's popularity is a direct reflection of the values of our country, at least those of the younger crowd and the Hollywood types. We now have President in office who is perhaps the most inexperienced person to ever hold the office. He was elected as a U.S. Senator from Illinois and didn't even serve one full term. How did this happen? Simple. Those who voted for him voted for someone who looks good on TV and is more of a celebrity than a statesman. We have created a society in which our kids look up to the Hollywood types and up to those who are "fakes" rather than looking up to real heroes, like John McCain or their local parish priest. Obama's popularity is based soley on outward appearance rather than experience in leadership. Does anyone think that we would ever put into office someone who looked like Abe Lincoln, William H. Taft or Teddy Roosevelt? Of course not, because their outward appearance doesn't measure up to our Hollywood celebrity types. Those who voted for Obama put charisma and charm and "hip" ahead of experience and leadership. They will be partialy responsible for the outcome of this administration, whether it be four four or eight years. Thanks, America, some of you have put "celebrity" over safety.
